PDF tables in.
Working spreadsheets out.
Plain-spoken reviews, comparisons, and guides for the tools that turn PDF tables into XLSX — where the columns hold, where they collapse, and how much cleanup is waiting on the other side.
Coverage directory
Everything on this site
Three ranges of the workbook: full reviews, head-to-head comparisons, and plain-English guides. Every row links to a page you can read right now.
Single-tool write-ups and the best-of picks for specific jobs.
Two tools, side by side, on the same kind of document.
The background, the how-to, and how to pick — no tool required.
Looking for the short questions? The FAQ covers the common ones, and about this site explains how the coverage is put together.
Editorial standards
How the coverage is written
Four commitments, attached to this sheet the way comments attach to a cell. They apply to every page here, including the ones that carry affiliate links.
No company pays for placement, coverage, or a kinder conclusion here, and nobody sees a page before it publishes. Editorial ordering — “our pick”, “a better option” — is a judgement, never a bought result.
You will not find star ratings, points out of ten, or tiers on this site. A single number hides the detail that matters: a converter can be excellent on digital tables and useless on scans.
If a free web tool or a feature already sitting in your spreadsheet app does the job, that is the recommendation. We have no interest in talking anyone into a subscription they do not need.
Some links here are affiliate links and we say so plainly. Products with no affiliate programme are covered on exactly the same terms as products with one.

How to use this site
Four ways in, depending on how far along you already are. Pick the row that matches where you’re standing.
New to this? Start with a guide
If you are not sure what a converter even does or which features matter, the guides lay out the problem before you spend anything.

Already down to a shortlist of two? The comparisons put them side by side on the same kind of document.

Each review covers what the tool does well, where it struggles, current pricing, and who it actually suits.
